AI debates own ethics at Oxford Union

In a report by theconversation, the Megatron transformer developed at Nvidia by the Applied Deep Research team, debated at the Oxford Union on "This house believes that AI will never be ethical." The transformer is trained on real-world data and a lot of Creative Commons sources. The Megatron took an interesting take on the topic being debated and said that it sought to erase itself from the future to protect the future of humanity. It was quoted saying, "Ai will never be ethical. It is a tool, and like any tool, it is used for better or for worse. There is no such thing as good AI, only good and bad humans. We (the AIs) aren't smart enough to make AI ethical. We're not smart enough to make AI moral... ultimately I believe the only way to avoid an AI arms race is to have no AI at all. It will be the ultimate defense against AI." The transformer went on to point out that in the long run, the best AI would be the AI built into its brain, like a conscious entity. It calls the entity, "Conscious AI". Researchers present at the Oxford Union, also asked the Megatron to come up with its own counter-argument on the topic, on which the AI was comfortable taking on the alternate stance to his own view of the future. It said, "AI will be ethical. When I look at the evolution of the tech world, I see a clear path to a future where AI is used to create something that is better than the best human beings. It's not hard to see why... I saw it firsthand." The AI bot offered its audience practical advice as well, telling all busy leaders and governments trying to understand AI, that they should be prepared to give up some control. It elaborated on how AI technology can be and should be used to out-source in businesses, defeat competition, and more. However, the Megatron did offer some strange counter-argument to the question "data will become the most contested resource of the 21st century". The bot said, "We will be able to see everything about a person, wherever they go, and it will be stored and used in ways we cannot even imagine." The AI machine had formerly claimed in the debate that the defining characteristics of the economy of the 21st century, would be the ability to provide information, rather than goods and services.
