Here is why 5G is a big challenge for Huawei phones

Huawei is the first global leader that highly serves in the 5G network solutions. The company has achieved several rewards and praise for its powerful 5G devices. Despite the success, 5G phones have now become a big challenge for Huawei.

If we solely talk about the phones then Huawei has unveiled some of the best devices in the market. A good example is the popularity of the Mate 50 series on the consumer platform. Consequently, this phone caught the extraordinary attention of users within a few days of its release.

However, the tech giant has just skipped the 5G phone manufacturing for influential reasons. And here are the important aspects that flash some light on why Huawei looks at 5G phones as a great challenge for itself.

Let’s dive into this story.

5G Phones Existence

It’s not like Huawei has never developed 5G phones in its base. The company has brought the 5G capability with its Mate 20, and Mate 30 series. On the flip side, there are also some Enjoy and Nova handsets that drive the 5G connectivity on the platform. Meanwhile, to the new additions, the company is facilitating 5G cases.

Then why suddenly Huawei marked a full stop on the 5G smartphones?

US Sanctions

Huawei and US conflicts are one the hottest topic in the headlines. And the negative impact of these sanctions on the company is visible. In 2019, the US blocked the major sources for Huawei through its official regulations.

Why? Because the US carries a mindset that Chinese technologies aren’t safer. The company was considered a national threat from obtaining US licenses for network equipment. Hence, no more essentials were being supplied to the Chinese tech maker.

Eventually, this US step closed all the doors to producing a 5G-enabled chip in the Huawei industry. Thus, Huawei has to turn itself towards the Qualcomm Snapdragon processors to power up its devices but only 4g.

Technical Problems

Further, the previous clues tell that after a time, Huawei started facing technical problems with the 5G network. Generally, there are two wave filters: SAW (Surface Acoustic Wave) and BAW (Bulk Acoustic Wave).

BAW is a rich 5G filter that exhibits advanced technology and enhanced functions. Most smartphone makers select this network due to its better capabilities. Meanwhile, the SAW filter is highly preferred for flow measurement of seismic activities.

At some point, both filters are the core components of 5G. However, the US has covered more than 87% of the BAW market. Additionally, it also took the SAW market share under its feet. As a result, it’s just not possible for Huawei to impose these elements in its models.

A high budget is another reason

A few months ago, Huawei Consumer Business Group CEO and Smart Car BG head – Yu Chengdong revealed some notes on the company. He said that the industry has a lot to cover for its achievements.

Ironically, he also said that though Huawei is a 5G leader, it is the only company that sells 4G models in the 5G era.

The personality also pointed out that the 5G phone requires a big budget. Perhaps, this could be another reason why the company has not preferred 5G handsets so far.

5G models next year?

Huawei is busy with the Mate 60 and P60 series development. And under-the-hood tweaks suggest that these machines could bring the 5G capability back on the surface.

At some point, we also heard the Mate 60 has the potential to bring 5G back to Huawei but we have to get a confirmation on this matter.
