Apple Vision Pro generated quite the frenzy around the idea of an advanced high-tech mixed reality headset, but has also proved to be a struggle to keep up with as Apple cuts down its production to make it work. Samsung's XR mixed reality headset is reportedly also being delayed for similar reasons. A Korean publication SBS Biz claims that Samsung has delayed its Apple Vision Pro competitor by “up to six months" which was supposed to come into production in early 2024. A source familiar with Samsung's plans has said, "I understand that the decision was made considering the specifications of Apple’s mixed reality (MR) headset ‘Vision Pro,’ a competitor. We decided to reconsider." Apple's high-tech mixed reality headset has apparently forced Samsung to withdraw its plans and rethink the headset in development. Samsung's headset is expected to run on Android and with a Qualcomm chipset, while the company sources its own BOE and display panels unlike Apple. This year Samsung also revealed a partnership with Qualcomm and Google which will include an “unannounced version of Android” for “wearable displays.” Google is reportedly also working on a model for XR devices, placing its OEM hardware first rather than building its own.
