NASA and SpaceX to launch Crew-10 mission on Friday

NASA’s SpaceX Crew-10 mission is now scheduled to launch on Friday, March 14, 2025, at 7:03 PM EDT, following a delay earlier this week due to technical issues. The initial attempt to launch on Wednesday, March 12 was scrubbed about 44 minutes before liftoff. The delay was caused by a problem with the hydraulics on a clamp used to stabilize the rocket before launch. The Crew-10 mission will send four astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS). The crew includes Anne McClain and Nichole Ayers from NASA, Takuya Onishi from Japan's JAXA, and Kirill Peskov from Russia's Roscosmos. This will be McClain’s second spaceflight and the first for Ayers and Peskov.         View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by SpaceX (@spacex) One of the key objectives of this mission is to help return two NASA astronauts, Barry “Butch” Wilmore and Sunita “Suni” Williams, who have been stranded on the ISS since June 2024. Their return was delayed because of issues with Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft. Originally, they were supposed to stay in space for only a short time, but now their stay has been extended. They are expected to return home soon after Crew-10 arrives at the ISS.         View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by MSNBC (@msnbc) The spacecraft that will be used for this mission is SpaceX’s Crew Dragon capsule, named “Endurance”. This capsule has already successfully flown on previous missions, and NASA and SpaceX decided to reuse it to speed up the mission and help bring Wilmore and Williams home sooner. The Crew-10 astronauts will carry out scientific research on the ISS to help prepare for future human space exploration beyond low-Earth orbit. Once they arrive at the ISS, Wilmore and Williams will join the Crew-9 astronauts and begin their journey back to Earth. The Crew-10 mission will launch from Launch Complex 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. After launch, the first stage of the rocket will land at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. The launch will take place at 7:03 PM EDT on Friday, March 14, 2025, which is 4:03 AM on Saturday, March 15, 2025, Pakistan Time (PKT). This mission marks a significant moment in international collaboration in space exploration, with astronauts from NASA, Japan, and Russia working together on the ISS.
